With all of the “Get Rich Quick” scams these days, it seems that everyone is trying to finagle themselves into the high life with the hopes that they will be accepted into the upper-class as equals. Unfortunately, a thick wallet does not always give someone a free pass into aristocracy.
For example, Jared Fogle, the new spokesman for Subway, could be seen as one who lives a luxurious life. However, most would never refer to him as courtly, dignified or elegant. Those terms are usually left for those such as Prince William who was born knowing that he would one day inherit a kingdom. Still, in America, we have our exceptions. Paris Hilton was born with every advantage in the world, yet she is merely famous for being an eccentric air-brained party girl. With that in mind, does the idea of “old-money” and “new-money” still apply today or does money alone give someone a free pass to the top?
